How is the institution invoiced for student enrollment?

There are two ways that an academic institution can be invoiced:

  1. A school’s bookstore purchases key codes from EI and is invoiced for them. Key codes are an interface for accessing CourseLine®. Key codes are not course-specific, have no expiration date, and there are no returns. This method eliminates the need for instructors to handle CourseLine® fees.
  2. An instructor submits a list of students on a class roster and after 14 days EI generates an invoice, which is sent to the school.

How do students access CourseLine®?

  • Students typically access CourseLine® using a link off of their institution’s web site, providing a unique student number and password for access.

How do students receive their unique student number and password?

  • A course instructor at an institution registers students into a roster
  • Rosters are submitted to EI and processed
  • EI sends the instructor a list of student numbers and passwords
  • The instructor provides each student with his or her unique information
    OR
  • Students purchase keycodes from the bookstore
  • Instructor collects keycode numbers from students enrolled in class
  • Instructor sends roster with keycode numbers to EI for processing
  • EI sends the instructor a list of students numbers and passwords
  • The instructor provides each student with his or her unique information

What is the cost for CourseLine?

Effective August 1, 2008, the Educational Institute will offer both individual courses and packages to the academic market.  Schools can offer one course or 30 courses, or anything in between.  The following shows the initial, one-time set-up fee for unlimited CourseLine use.

  • 1 to 4 courses:  $125.00 each
  • 5 courses: $500.00
  • 8 courses: $700.00
  • 12 courses: $1,000.00
  • 30+ courses: $1,995.00

There is also a fee of $75 per student/per course for key codes.

What if the number of courses my school wants to offer falls in between one of those packages?

A school’s final price will be calculated based on the package price, plus individual courses.  For example, 10 courses would cost $925.00—that is, $700.00 for the eight-course package, plus $125.00 each for two additional courses.
